OUR STORY
My friends and I were at the mall at this lady came up to us and was like you guys have a great look and asked if we wanted a free audition. We were flattered a little and thought oh you know a fun little free audition no harm done... so we gave her our numbers and she gave us the business card.
The next day I got a call from "TRU TALENT MANAGMENT" I thought since she had a business card and the address wasn’t a fake I would be ok to go check it out.
Plus I decided if we had to pay anything I wouldn’t sign up.
Anyway we set up the appointment for 4:30 the next day. When we got there the receptionist handed us a form to fill out and then we waited for our audition. When they were ready for us we were greeted by 2 guys one big fat man the other pretty nice looking, anyway they seemed really nice so we sat down and they asked us about ourselves and why we were interested in the company, (um weren’t they the ones who found us!) we weren’t even interested in the first place but at the time we just didn’t really know what to say so just told a little bit about our selves what we do, then he gave us a monologue or script that we practiced a couples times then rehearsed in front of them.
Since I am shy I know I did a horrible job! Honestly I couldn’t see me acting in a movie or anything but he said I had potential (or a nice way of saying yeah you suck but we want your money) so he started telling us about the program and said we could take acting classes that would teach us how to act and model.
He also said stuff like we are going to give you guys a once in a life time opportunity and we want you guys you know not everyone that comes in here gets signed up by us, like we were special (which by that I’m sure he meant anyone smart enough to run doesn’t get caught signing them selves up to waste their money)
He continued to go over some stuff and brought out the contract (of doom) he asked about our income and I had a pretty great job but my friend on the other hand is living with me and has little income so she would need to find one. Anyway he made up a little payment plan, he said he would finance us so I thought he was helping us out. Where we would pay like $50 bucks every month for two years!! At the time I didn’t really know that we were going to have to pay the whole $2000 and of coarse I didn’t think I would have to pay it if it was something I decided not to do. He never said there was no backing out once you in!
As far as the financing goes they really don’t spend any money on you they just tell you that and bring in the third party to trick you into thinking that you owe them, that’s how they run it and its like lets just say a way of scamming, They are making thousands of dollars this way!!
He made it seem real easy and that he was interested in us and genuinely cared about us but of coarse he’s been doing this for years and knows exactly what to say and know how to work his little scheme perfectly!! I was so blind sighted by the whole thing I didn’t really know what the whole contract was about; he briefly explained the contract and didn’t mention the extra fees or other stuff.
Anyway we ended up signing everything and gave them all our personal info, I trusted them I didn’t think that they could do something like that, I didn’t even think something like that was legal, apparently its just legal enough thy know all the ricks and all the right things to say. I thought they were interested in helping us break out of our shells and help with the payment, but the truth of the matter is all the care about is your money!!
These people are evil and manipulative they love it when they find the young (especially shy) people who don’t need parental permission they get you to hand over everything and they will even come after you if you decide not to pay, collections will come after and they could even end up suing you. This is such an evil little plan and they should be stopped please tell anyone you can about this and get people aware!!
If you are a victim of this I would love your help to get as many people as we can against them please check out the http://consumerprotection.utah.gov/scams/topten.html
fill out the form and send it in that’s what I did and I really hope it helps
Anyway please leave your comments below!!
